Community Care Day 2011 - Tuesday, September 13
Many thanks to the more than 100 area volunteers who spent their afternoon on Tuesday, September 13 in their LIVE UNITED t-shirts, lending a hand on United Way's 2011 Community Care Day.

Community Care Day projects included:
- Volunteers from First-Knox National Bank stained, sanded and landscaped at the Alcohol and Drug Freedom Center
- Rolls-Royce volunteers assisted American Red Cross of Knox County with a basement clean out project and landscaping
- Rolls-Royce volunteers worked at Behavioral Healthcare Partners of Central Ohio, to wash windows, pull weeds and trim bushes
- The Muskingum Valley Council of Boy Scouts of America hosted a picnic table building project with the help of Ariel Corporation and The Energy Cooperative volunteers
- The Visiting Nurse Association sent volunteers to Centerburg Senior Services for a room cleaning project
- A team of First-Knox National Bank, Ohio Heritage Bank, and Roll-Royce employees worked at the Centerburg Branch of Interchurch Social Services moving furniture and painting a new office
- Rolls-Royce employees painted a storage shed plus trimmed bushes and vines around the shed at the Fredericktown Branch of Interchurch Social Services
- Knox County 4-H benefittedt from the strength of Rolls-Royce employees as they moved large heavy wood walls in the 4-H Booth Building at the Knox County Fairgrounds
- A team from Rolls-Royce weeded and cleaned at Knox County Head Start’s Danville Center
- Mount Vernon Developmental Center employees weeded, cleaned and turned mulch for Knox County Head Start at New Hope Early Education Center
- Knox County Health Department hosted a project involving weeding, painting and washing windows with the help of Sanoh America employees
- Dennis and Schisler employees, along with Rolls-Royce employees, worked at New Directions Domestic Abuse Shelter painting, staining and performing general yard maintenance
- Pathways of Central Ohio worked with the Knox County Health Department to circulate information on the 2-1-1 crisis and information hotline at area apartment complexes
- Employees of Ariel Corporation. The People’s Bank and The Kroger Company landscaped at The Salvation Army of Mount Vernon and the Salvation Army’s Harbor Youth Center, while Jeld-Wen Windows and Doors employees painted and stained various items outside these facilities; meanwhile, Rolls-Royce and the Visiting Nurse Association assembled concrete benches
- At the YMCA of Mount Vernon , Rolls-Royce employees power washed the main building and provided general cleaning assistance
- At the YMCA Sports Center, volunteers from Knox County Department of Job and Family Services, the Knox County Health Department, and Rolls-Royce painted indoors and provided some general cleaning assistance
Together, these 100 volunteers gave more than 350 hours of their time to making a difference at United Way partner agencies! Thank you to all of them, and the companies and organizations they represent, for their generosity!
