United Way Executive Director Kelly Brenneman has announced that Ryan Sponsler will serve as the United Way of Knox County’s Campaign Chair for 2017. Sponsler is thrilled to take part in this important yearly campaign to support agencies in Knox County. “Growing up, my family instilled the importance of getting involved to help make our community a better place. My Mother served on the United Way board in our hometown and I can remember she was always involved in supporting the United Way in some capacity,” said Sponsler. In 2018, United Way will invest $702,000 in 16 agencies, who will run 7 education, 6 financial stability and 13 health programs.
The theme this year is “Give Where You Live.” Sponsler finds this theme fitting as 16 years ago, Sponsler and his wife Kerri, came to Knox County to make a home for their family. “It was important for us to make our own way with the Donley Auto Group and we chose Mount Vernon to begin our journey. We found Knox County to be a diamond in the rough. It is small in size, compared to many neighboring counties, but it has the resources to take care of its own. United Way of Knox County leads the way in partnering with a group of amazing agencies that collaborate seamlessly, working to improve the financial stability, health and education of Knox County residents. It was easy for us to choose United Way as an investment, to better our communities.” said Sponsler.
Prior to coming to Knox County, Sponsler grew up in Ashland, Ohio, graduating from Ashland High School in 1993. He then attended Muskingum University for 2 years before starting as a Salesperson at Donley Auto Group in 1995.
Donley Auto Group is also proud to offer one donor from Crawford, Knox, Ashland and Richland counties an opportunity to win a 2-year lease on a 2018 Ford Escape or $5,000 cash. This is the second year Donley has partnered with United Way in an effort to bring more donors to invest in their local campaigns. Any donor who donates $250 or more will be entered in the drawing.
Sponsler will preside over the Campaign festivities the week of September 12. For the culminating event on Friday of that week, he will officially kick-off the Campaign with the Good Morning Knox County Kick-Off Breakfast, held in Foster Hall, at MVNU’s Ariel Arena at 7:30 A.M.
