The first Women United sponsored Career Intelligence workshop took place October 25 and 26. Lori Gastin of Knox Technical Center and Lovel Quinn lead the sessions and included several community members in their planning and presentations.
Students from the Knox Learning Center participated in the workshop. The Agenda for Day 1 included a personality assessment, information on communication and professional skills, job search, and personal finance to set them up for success in getting a job and keeping it. The day also included a panel of representatives from local business speaking about what they look for in an applicant at a job interview. It concluded in a networking opportunity where the students could practice the skills introduced throughout the day. Day 2 included a trip to Interchurch Social Services and Shoe Sensation where they shopped for and an interview outfit (and shoes!) consistent with professional guidelines and purchased with Workshop funds.
Information on the next Career Intelligence workshop will be shared on Facebook when it becomes available. To inquire about partnering to host a Career Intelligence workshop, contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call 740.397.5721.
