Crunch Out teachers speak out

As United Way and our program partners busily prepare for our Crunch Out Knox County community celebration and awards ceremony to take place on January 12, some of our PE teachers took the time to speak with local media about the program. Crunch Out is a United Way youth wellness program presented by Physical Education teachers to fourth graders throughout Knox County. Students recieve an exercise ball, learn how to use it in gym class, and take it home with them to keep. They learn the 5-2-1-0 healthy living guidelines and track wellness progress in daily journals. Participation is rewarded with fun prizes. The program culminates in a "How I am Living Healthy" Essay contest. The winning essays will be shared at our awards celebration on January 12 and the Overall Knox County Crunch Out winner will be announced.

Local radio WNZR aired the interviews with our Crunch Out teachers. Visit their website to listen in.
