Seven vendors participated on the first and third Tuesdays in July, August, and September providing fresh, local produce to area residents. Various cooking demonstrations were held and of special fun and interest was grilling brussel sprouts on September 1 with Chef Paul Higgins. Many children had never tasted brussel sprouts and were amazed how great they tasted when grilled.
The Knox County Health Department collaborated with OSU Extension, Mount Vernon High School, local chefs and busines owners to create a separate theme and educational presentation at each market. Giveaways were provided each week and grand prizes included a charcoal grill (winner - Linda Harris) and a chest freezer ( Jean Knoske - winner) provided at cost by Herald's Appliance and purchased by United Way. Market attendees were required to attend the presentation in order to receive an entry form for the drawing.
