We at United Way of Knox County are dedicated to improving lives through Education, Health, Community and Financial Security. We run various programs designed to uplift our communities and provide much-needed assistance to those who need it the most.

Family and Children First Council
The Intentional Funding Program served Knox County families by addressing immediate, unmet needs through short-term financial assistance. This flexible funding helped individuals access transportation, enrichment opportunities, and essential supports, allowing families to stabilize without requiring long-term system involvement.

New Directions Domestic Abuse Shelter of Knox County
The Advocacy & Support for Survivors of Intimate Partner Violence & Sexual Violence program supported survivors by providing crisis response, shelter, advocacy, and connections to essential resources. In 2025, the program delivered 2,832 shelter nights, responded to 1,266 crisis calls, and completed 226 community resource referrals, ensuring survivors received immediate safety support and ongoing advocacy as they worked toward stability and independence.
American Red Cross East-Central Ohio
148 blood drives, producing 3,772 units of blood. The program celebrated 432 first-time donors
The Salvation Army of Mount Vernon
36 households received rental assistance. 61 individuals received case management services through interviews and created long-term plans for housing/transportation
The Salvation Army of Mount Vernon
The Emergency Services program served 357 unduplicated individuals by providing rent and utility assistance to households facing financial crisis. Through direct support for rent, electric, and gas needs, families were able to remain housed, keep utilities connected, and stabilize during times of hardship, exceeding anticipated service levels for utility assistance.
New Directions Domestic Abuse Shelter of Knox County
1,571 nights of shelter were provided. 37 sexual assualt survivors received hospital accompainiment, hotline information or advocacy. 146 domestic violence victims survivors had access to individual advocacy and/or education
The Salvation Army of Mount Vernon
72 students received tutoring or homework assistance. 72 students received character building and social and emotional development support
American Red Cross East-Central Ohio
The Blood Services program served 12,081 unduplicated individuals by coordinating blood drives and collecting lifesaving blood products throughout Knox County. Through community partnerships and donor engagement, the program ensured a stable blood supply to meet medical needs and support hospitals and patients across the region.
New Directions Domestic Abuse Shelter of Knox County
155 youths and 201 adults received prevention programming to increase protective factors and decrease risk factors associated with relations & sexual violence
American Red Cross East-Central Ohio
40 households were provided housing, food, clothing and disaster relief assistance following a home fire or other disaster. 178 free preventative smoke alarms were installed
